Namibia is mostly desert, and the desert is not where malaria is. Malaria may be present in the northern regions along the Kavango and Zambezi, where the water is, so a self-drive route through Sossusvlei and the coast looks very different from one that runs up to Etosha and the Caprivi.
Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMR and typhoid are typically recommended for Namibia. Polio, rabies, cholera and malaria tablets depend on which regions you cross, and the northern ones are where most of the risk sits. Map your route with a doctor first, because in Namibia the northern legs decide whether tablets are needed.
At Singapore Women's Clinic, we provide a range of travel vaccinations, preventive medication and travel health advice for solo travellers and families alike.

The information on this page is taken from CDC destination advice for Namibia and Ministry of Health, Singapore. If you are unsure which of these apply to you, it is best to consult a doctor, who can advise on which vaccines you need based on your destination, your itinerary and your medical history.
Malaria may be present in Kavango East and West, Kunene, Ohangwena, Omaheke, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa and Zambezi, and is rare elsewhere. There is typically no transmission in Windhoek.
Malaria pills, also called malaria prophylaxis, do not stop you being bitten. They work by killing the parasite in your bloodstream before it has a chance to multiply and make you ill, which is why they are taken daily through the trip and for a period after you leave.
At Singapore Women’s Clinic, we provide malaria pills in addition to travel vaccinations. It is best to consult our doctor 4 to 6 weeks before you fly, so that any tablets can be matched to your route and to medicines you already take. A later appointment is still worth making, as the course itself is usually started only 2 days before you arrive.
Whether you need a certificate depends on the countries you pass through or come from. Before you travel, check your full route against the current list of countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission on Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority website.
No certificate is needed if you arrive directly from Singapore, or from any country without yellow fever risk.
It is required from age 9 months if you arrive from a country with risk, including airport transits of more than 12 hours there.
Singapore requires a yellow fever certificate if you have recently travelled to a country with yellow fever risk. It follows your route, not your destination, so it can apply even when the country you are visiting has no risk.
At Singapore Women’s Clinic, we also provide travel medical kits, curated by our doctors, to help you manage common travel issues such as diarrhoea, motion sickness, and minor injuries. Each kit is compact and cabin-friendly.
No appointment is required. You may walk in to purchase the kit during clinic hours.
