No malaria is reported in Egypt, so preparation comes down to what you eat and drink and what you touch. Stomach upsets are the common complaint on a Nile cruise, and two of the vaccines exist precisely for the more serious versions of that.

Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMR and typhoid are typically recommended for Egypt. Rabies is the main itinerary-dependent one, and it matters most for longer stays and for anyone whose plans bring them near animals. A short consultation is enough to confirm which of these you are already covered for.

At Singapore Women's Clinic, we provide a range of travel vaccinations, preventive medication and travel health advice for solo travellers and families alike.

The information on this page is taken from CDC destination advice for Egypt and Ministry of Health, Singapore. If you are unsure which of these apply to you, it is best to consult a doctor, who can advise on which vaccines you need based on your destination, your itinerary and your medical history.

Vaccination Certificate Requirements for Entry and Re-Entry

Whether you need a certificate depends on the countries you pass through or come from. Before you travel, check your full route against the current list of countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission on Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority website.

Entering Egypt

No certificate is needed if you arrive directly from Singapore, or from any country without yellow fever risk.

It is required from age 9 months if you arrive from a country with risk, including airport transits of more than 12 hours there.

Returning to Singapore

Singapore requires a yellow fever certificate if you have recently travelled to a country with yellow fever risk. It follows your route, not your destination, so it can apply even when the country you are visiting has no risk.

  • Applies to all travellers, including Singapore residents, of any nationality.
  • Includes airport transits of more than 12 hours in an affected country.
  • Valid from 10 days after vaccination, then for life.
  • Without a valid certificate you may be quarantined for six days under the Infectious Diseases Act, counted from the date you left the affected country.
  • Exempt: Children aged one year and below; Travellers with a medical contraindication to the vaccine.
